Anybody who has had a glimpse into Spanish employment law will know the insanity of the legislation. Here is a ridiculous case of a supermarket manager who has been sacked.

His crime? Getting to work early in order to prepare stuff before the store opens. Some days he got to work one whole hour too early.  :96:

They cite reasons of security, that he was alone in the building. So presumably anybody who is the first to turn up for work must wait for everybody else so they are not alone.  :017:

Working in the same industry I start early every day and if I'm on an morning shift I'll be there for 5am despite not being scheduled to start until 6. 

We are also told not to be in the store alone - from both a security and safety POV, however I think me standing outside the store waiting for someone else to turn up draws attention to the place more than being in the store alone.  It isn't fun standing outside a shop for ages in the pissing rain waiting to start a shift whilst thinking of all the jobs you could be doing instead.   :banghead:

Unfortunately, the powers-that-be who make up these rules come up with them sat in a comfy office during their 9-5 shift, and chances are they've never been "at the coalface" other than to do their shopping.
