And now it seems that with the difficulties in Spain, bullfighting is returning to France.

I really wish they would ban this. It's bloody barbaric!

just been reading that minutes before the torture in which he tripped and was gored, he had killed a different bull, and had done the traditional thing of cutting off its ear.

The Spanish Constitutional Court (I think it's that one, a top one anyway) has overturned at least one regional autonomous government's ban of the "sport" on the grounds that it's "part of Spain's common cultural heritage".

And now the Spanish press and politicians and even the royal family is united in their distress for a hero ...

but note that the politicians are the "conservative" ones. Spain is still two Spains ... the two Spains that fought in the civil war, and which resulted in the "popular" party taking up the baton from the Nationalists after Franco gave up the dictatorship. I haven't seen any mourning from the other side, the Republican rest of Spain ...

THIS is such a good read if anyone's interested ...

How the hell can these idiots call it culture? Let's call it by its correct name, ANIMAL CRUELTY!!

Expect a fair bit of news about bullfighting this week because the (in)famous Pamplona massacre festival starts today.

And so there'll be the usual spectacle of the public being "chased" by panicked bulls, and getting caught on horns ... before the bulls are driven to the ring.

Pathetic macho crap.
